Hironobu Arima, Product Planning, PBU Accessories

The focus of my work is to create the most value between our phones and accessories by assuring tight communication between the Product Business Unit Accessories and other Product Business Units. Being able to see the results of my work, which have a global influence on the company, is an enormous benefit for me.

I love working in the product planning team. I think we have the most exciting role within the company by creating innovative products and ideas. We have the freedom to develop our concepts and see the results of that freedom in the completed products.

Sony Ericsson have managed to expand our product line rapidly in just the past five years. And I believe that Sony Ericsson will continue to be in the best position to offer the most attractive products and value to this market - and it’s great to be a part of that.

We will achieve so much more in the next few years in innovative and unique ways, and we all feel the excitement that this growth and challenge brings. Back to Top

Hélene Barnekow, Head of Marketing, Latin America

Our environment is so fast-paced — a combination of the industry, the kind of company Sony Ericsson is and the Latin American market. All these factors contribute to a fast pace that is fun, challenging and encouraging.

In marketing we decide on new launches, make market prioritisations, analyse numbers and market scenarios, decide on new advertising campaigns, solidify PR messages, manage marketing budgets, prepare and give presentations and interact with customers.

My days are very varied, depending upon where I am in the world. I spend about half of my time travelling — either to our offices and customers in Latin America or to internal meetings, usually somewhere in Europe. A typical day in the office involves meetings, interaction, team work and decision making.

I have learnt the power of first saying, "Yes, it is possible". I have also found out a great deal about building organisations, brands and processes as part of a global company. And, most importantly, I have discovered a lot about working effectively across cultures, with many different nationalities, languages and work habits, all working in the same direction.

I am convinced of Sony Ericsson's future. As the company continues on its journey I look forward to contributing to our ultimate goals. I believe there will always be opportunities for us in Sony Ericsson along the way. Back to Top

Sean Lash, Global Product Business Manager, PBU Accessories

One of the best things about working for a multi-national company like Sony Ericsson is the people. I work with colleagues from as far apart as North America and China, and what what we all have in common is the desire to win.

As a Product Business Manager my main task is to interface between the Accessories Product Business Unit (PBU) and sales regions to maximise potential for our products. I drive regional requests for special projects such as customising products for specific operators, and bundle opportunities such as film and game launches, sports events and seasonal promotions.

I’m now living and working in Europe, taking full advantage of life experiences that differ from my own.

I have had the opportunity to grow and develop my management and problem-solving skills. This cross-functional learning has been vital to my personal development. What has also benefited me is the exposure to different organisations within Product Management, Sales and R&D, which has enabled me to have a more holistic view of Sony Ericsson and increase my comprehension of why and how decisions are made at global and market levels.

This is a very exciting time to be a part of Sony Ericsson. I’m excited about today and look forward to tomorrow with passion. Back to Top

Marie Winther Bothén, Corporate Business Controller

Most people don’t like Mondays, but I have no problem in getting up to go to work.

I interact with people from all over the world in all sorts of different ways. My work is all about understanding, communicating and driving various financial processes within our company. No two days are the same, which is great because you never know what to expect.

I have great opportunities for growth, not just in my career and position but also socially. The challenges at work push you to do greater things, even when you’re away from the office.

Another great benefit is working with interesting people. I work with fresh-thinking, skilled people with impressive backgrounds. Most of my colleagues have a genuine interest in other people and they are not what you would call average.

We have all been beginners at some time in our life, and I have learned an awful lot since I started in the mobile phone business 10 years ago. Two things that I've understood are that everything will change, so I need to be open-minded, and that I always need to be in the 'driver's seat' of the things that I care about and am interested in. By doing this, I feel the sky is the limit in this company. Back to Top

Erik Mårtensson, Product Business Manager

What really excites me about working for Sony Ericsson is having an interesting job that gives me the chance to deepen my knowledge in a specific area.

I have felt welcome from day one – everyone has tried to help me as much as they can with their knowledge, experience and contacts. Getting help building up contacts in the organisation is extremely important for getting to grips with your work as quickly as possible. Everything is so much easier if you know who to ask or who to go to on different matters.

It’s great to be a part of an international, successful company that makes cool products that I like using. Back to Top

Dimitra Darda, Head of Sales, Greece

With my team I develop and implement sales strategies that will give Sony Ericsson the leading position across Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia and Moldova.

My typical day is full of energy and action. I meet customers and colleagues, travel, forecast, respond to requests, coach and make decisions all the time. I ensure that we deliver the right mix of products, and in such a way that customers, colleagues, partners and consumers love the Sony Ericsson experience.

Our multinational team is full of enthusiasm and hungry for success. I believe that a company's human assets are fundamental to its success, and that’s definitely true here in Sony Ericsson.

I’m very lucky that I'm working here now. The open and dynamic environment creates opportunities for me to fulfil my own aspirations for personal development and to contribute to the success of Sony Ericsson. Back to Top
