Before you start, make sure that: a) the Bluetooth headset is fully charged, switched on and within range of the phone (not more than 1 metre away) b) Bluetooth is activated in the phone (for more information, see the phone's user's guide)
The first time you switch on your headset it will automatically go into pairing mode. Another time you turn on the Bluetooth Headset, you may want to pair the headset with another Bluetooth device, in which case you must put the headset into pairing mode manually.
To pair the headset in automatic pairing mode (this only works the very first time you turn on the headset): 1. Press and hold the Call handling button for 5 seconds, to switch on the headset. The Call handling button is on the front of the headset next to the display. 2. There will be three symbols showing in the headset's display (a headset, two rotating arrows and a phone), which indicates that the headset is in Pairing mode. 3. You must now add the headset to the phone's list of Bluetooth devices. For detailed instructions, click on Product Information/Getting started in the left-hand navigation menu, or use the phone's user's guide. 4. You must enter a Bluetooth passkey in the phone. The default passkey is 0000.

Pairing (sometimes also called adding or bonding) enables two Bluetooth devices, for example a headset and a phone, to connect to each other and work together whenever they are switched on and within range of each other.
Before you can start using your Bluetooth Headset with another Bluetooth device, for example a phone, the two devices have to be paired with each other. You only need to pair the two devices once, and normally there's no need to repeat this procedure. But if you want to use your headset with, for example, another phone, you must pair the headset with the new phone.
It takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge the Bluetooth Headset. If you haven’t used the headset for a while, the battery could have a reduced capacity and may need fully recharging more than once.
Note: Before you start using your Bluetooth Headset, you must charge it for approximately 8 hours to reach the battery's maximum capacity.
You can easily adjust: a) the ring volume in standby mode b) the speaker volume during a call
To increase volume, press the VOLUME BUTTON (+) a few times until you reach the volume you like. The beep you hear after each press on the button indicates the volume level.
To decrease volume, press the VOLUME BUTTON (-) a few times until you reach the volume you want. The beep you hear after each press on the button indicates the volume level.
By using a voice command, you can use your voice to redial, answer and reject calls. This can be very useful when you're using a headset and a phone together.

If you can't answer a call using the headset, check that: a) the headset is fully charged, switched on and within range of the phone (not more than 1 metre away) b) Bluetooth is turned on in the phone (for more information, see the phone's user's guide) c) the headset is correctly paired with your phone
Note: For detailed instructions on how to pair the headset with a phone (most Sony Ericsson phones), click on Product Information/Getting started in the left-hand navigation menu, or use the phone's user's guide.

Before you start, make sure your phone supports voice commands.
To start using voice commands (for detailed instructions, see the phone's user's guide): 1. Prepare your phone by activating the voice command function. 2. Record your voice commands. When you've done this, you'll be able to use voice commands with the headset and the phone.
Note: Do the recording in a normal environment. Check that the phone numbers are saved correctly (for example, home number under "Home", etc.).
Check that: a) the device you wish to connect the headset to is Bluetooth enabled, and that Bluetooth is activated (for more information, see the user's guide for the other device) b) the headset and the device are correctly paired c) the headset is fully charged, switched on and within range of the other device (not more than 1 metre away)
If you switch and use the Bluetooth Headset on your other ear, you can easily rotate the display text as follows: 1. The Bluetooth Headset will stay in pairing mode for 10 minutes. If you don't pair the headset with another device during these 10 minutes, the headset will automatically switch off.
If this happens you must turn on the headset, set it in pairing mode and start pairing again.
1. Press the Call handling button, which is on the front of the headset next to the display. 2. It may take a while to set up the connection between the phone and the headset. During this time you'll hear a repeated “beep”. When you hear a deeper “beep”, voice dialling is activated and a symbol of a speech bubble will be shown in the display. 3. Say the name of the person you want to call. Wait until you hear a confirmation (if not, try again). 4. After the deep “beep”, say the number type you want to call, for example, “Home”. Wait until you hear a confirmation (if not, try again). 5. The phone will now make the phone call.
When you change phone or Bluetooth Headset, you must always repeat the pairing procedure to specify the connection for these devices. The connection you set up when you pair a phone and a headset is always specific between those two devices.
Note: The Sony Ericsson HBH-662 is compatible with most Bluetooth™ mobile phones on the market that support a headset and/or a handsfree profile. If you use a mobile phone from another manufacturer and wish to check compatibility, please contact the phone manufacturer.
When you reset the settings in the headset, the headset will go into default mode (as it left the factory, before being used). This means the pairings you've made to other Bluetooth devices no longer exist.
You can reset your headset when, for example, you start using a new phone with your headset and you no longer want to use the old phone.
Check the indicator light, which is on the front of the headset next to the call handling button. If the indicator light flashes red, you must charge the battery.
