Frequently asked questions

This product may be used with Apple Macintosh MacBook Pro machines. Also, Apple Macintosh users can make GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA connections via the separate free software download "launch2net – Sony Ericsson Edition". Available from nova media.

Yes. Supported platforms are: Microsoft Windows® 2000, XP and Vista, including 64-bit versions.

Your computer is missing Windows Installer 3.1 software, which it needs to install Wireless Manager. To fix this problem:
- Click the OK button on the error message.
- Go to Microsoft Download Center.
- Under the Files in this Download section towards the bottom of the page, click the Download button next to WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe.
- A pop-up message will appear. Select "Run."
- After you get a message saying that Windows Installer has successfully installed, run the Wireless Manager installation again.

If the installation finished improperly or some of Wireless Manager’s files become corrupted, the program may crash. If so, it’s a good idea to uninstall and reinstall the program. To enable you to make sure you have an uncorrupted copy of the program, this section will cover reinstallation from the Support Web site at www.sonyericsson.com/support.
NOTE: The following instructions apply only to Sony Ericsson's Wireless Manager. If your modem came with an installation CD with your service provider's logo, please contact your service provider for uninstall/reinstall information.
To uninstall Wireless Manager and the Modem Drivers:
- Exit the Wireless Manager Program completely (check the system tray at the bottom right corner of your screen to make sure the program really is closed – right-click its icon, and click “Exit” if necessary).
- Click Start, then click Control Panel. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Highlight each of these programs and click Change/Remove:
- Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager
- Sony Ericsson Wireless Modem Driver
- Remove the EC400 from the ExpressCard slot and reboot your PC.
To reinstall, go to www.sonyericsson.com/support and download the latest version of Wireless Manager. Follow the installation instructions that appear.

You can use the EC400 with a Mac PowerBook or Mac Pro, provided you’re running OS X 10.4.3 or later and have an ExpressCard slot. However, you’ll need a separate program called “launch2net – Sony Ericsson Edition” by Nova Media (http://www.novamedia.de). Check the paper insert that came in the original packaging of your EC400 – it contains information about Mac support and locating the software mentioned.
