It is not possible to give a full list of applications that may cause connection problems, because any program that uses COM Ports or IP Communications can potentially interfere. However, the most common programs are the following:
Antivirus software and Firewall software: Try turning them off temporarily so that they do not block the connection. You can usually do this from their respective icons in the system tray. If one or both of these have been blocking the connection, it may be possible to configure the Antivirus and/or Firewall so they can be left running during synchronisation. With McAfee Antivirus or Firewall, the Sony Ericsson PC Suite should be reinstalled with this turned off.
Spyware: Spyware can interfere, so run a program such as Spybot or AdAware to remove the spyware.
Pop-up blocking software: Try disabling it temporarily to see whether it's causing the problem.
Search bar software: Look through the list of Programs in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs for any Search bar software (usually it is obvious from the name of the program) and remove or disable it.
Other synchronisation software for other phones, PDAs, notebook computers or Wireless LAN cards: Such software can cause a conflict and should be uninstalled.
