Phone support

The phone will not turn on, or the phone switches itself off

Below are some helpful tips on what to do if you can't turn your phone on. If your phone still won't switch on after you've tried the solutions below, please take it to your nearest service centre.

  • Press the on/off key for a minimum of 10 seconds to switch the phone on.
  • Make sure the battery is charged.
  • Sometimes you must remove the battery and clean dust, dirt and corrosion from the connectors on the phone and battery. You can clean the connectors with a soft brush, cloth or q-tip moistened with any type of unflavoured, colourless alcohol. Make sure the battery is totally dry before you put it back.
  • Also, check for damage to the phone connectors. If you have an original Sony Ericsson battery and your phone says "alien battery", cleaning the battery may help you correct the problem.
  • If your phone has a memory card, remove the memory card and try to switch the phone on. If it works, please take your phone and memory card to the nearest service centre.
  • If your phone vibrates continuously when you try to switch it on, please try to update it using the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
