A cookie is a message sent from a Web server to your Web browser that enables the server to show you customised Web pages. There are different kinds of cookies. A session cookie will be erased when you close your Web browser, and is not retainable. A permanent cookie is stored in your phone until you delete it or until the cookie expires.

Permanent cookies contain information about your browser, which is the main information needed for the cookie to work. Some Web sites use cookies to collect personal information about you. This can only be done if you provide the information yourself, e.g. by filling out a Web form. To prevent unauthorised usage, personal information will be encrypted by legitimate Web sites.

Note: Sony Ericsson recommends that you clear all sensitive information from previously visited Internet services. This is to avoid misuse of personal information if your phone is misplaced, lost or stolen.
